Even though school is out, and summer vacation is here, Battalion cadets take time to honor our veterans. Continuing a tradition, Battalion cadets participated in two separate events honoring those that have served our country this Memorial Day.
At Sunset Memorial Park, Battalion cadets participated in park ceremonies starting with Colors presentation and a twenty one gun salute with the USAF Color Guard from Kirtland Air Force Base, and proceeding with the Battalion Cadet Salute, in which the cadets walk the park grounds, saluting each and every of over 1,000 veterans interred at the park that has had a flag placed at their grave site by local Boy Scout troop 285.
A second squad of Battalion cadets participated in ceremonies held at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park here in Albuquerque. Cadets at this event provide support to the park organizers, and assisted elderly veterans on stage during their presentations.
During the activities, many veteran family members approached unit officers and expressed their appreciation for the Cadet Salute and support. Additional comments and accolades were made regarding the respect shown for veterans and the military bearing exhibited by Battalion Cadets.
The Battalion is proud of these cadets honoring those that have served our country!
